“Actually this is strange, because Iv'e just come from their site after reporting an urgent repair.
And sadly I don't hold out much hope,as they still haven't contacted me regards a different repair I notified them of about 6wks ago.
I wish they'd go back to being the council,at least when the council said they'd be out, they did come out.
It's a shambles.”

“Well you could alway move into private rented accomodation could you not? And why are the drawers repeatedly being broken? They don't make bomb proof drawer to my knowledge maybe it's operator error? Ever thought of doing the minor repairs and maintenence yourself, a bottle of 3 in 1 oil or wd40 will work wonders for stiff drawer runners and window hinges. Some pva glue and metal brackets and screws can be bought cheaply and be used to strengthen drawers. Social housing has fairly low rents when compared to private so unless you want to pay higher rents for constant repairs look after what you are lucky to have.
I'd love a council property...
The gas fire must have been quite old as else the spares would have been available to repair it. Although being a gas fitter I can understand why they are fitting electric appliances as there is no obligation to service them yearly freeing up money to be spent elsewhere, like constantly repairing drawers that people are unable to look after. The pch kitchens are the same as what people put into private homes in there standard of construction, but I suppose if you actually pay for it yourself you seem to treat it with more respect.”

“I know your not reponsible for fixtures and fittings but if people were to look after the fixtures and fittings they wouldn't need repairing all the time, breaking the drawers four times does sort of suggest operater error... If pcc wasn't running around fixing drawers then maybe they'd have the time and money to fix essential repairs quicker. But thats ok it's insured. What about labour costs? fuel to get employees to the properties, because someone keeps jamming too much stuff in a drawer and overloading it. You have to look after what you are lucky to have. When things get stiff oil them if your partial to overloading drawers strengthen then, it's not rocket science. I've worked in council houses and private houses and most people have respect for their homes although you see a lot more damage in council properties due to a lack of care and respect of the houses by the householder.”

“For a year I have searched for somewhere ground floor flat that I could afford and was recently sent a leaflet from 'Plymouth Community Homes' for 'Shared Ownership' in Kestor Close.
At Last, somewhere I could afford that was ground floor, ( I am on 'High Mobility' and can't cope with stairs.) I rang and made an appointment, pointing out that it would have to be an afternoon as I would be traveling from Somerset, the Woman at the other end gave me directions when I told her I did not know Plymouth and wasn't from the area.
After spending £50+ on petrol and driving there, I was told that I was not 'eligible' as I am not from Plymouth.
I was born near London of British parents and not surprisingly, can't afford to live in or even near where I was born and having traveled for most of my life, due to work and Family, I don't 'belong' anywhere.
They could have told me before I set off that I would not be 'eligible', but no-where on the leaflet they sent does it mention that and the person who made the appointment knew I was NOT from Plymouth.
I am a 65 year old on High Mobility, so It is pretty obvious that 'Plymouth Homes' don't care!”

“PCH are using unethical practices against their tenants:-
1. The Gas Fires. Instruction went out to all the gas fitters to condemn all gas fires. Each gas fire they removed the gas fitter was giving a bonus.
2. How many people have a regular gas service arranged and PCH don't turn up! PCH write to you in terms that they called and you were not in and offering a second appointment.
Unethical as it is put on your record as YOU missed the appointment. If a tenant has any legal problems with PCH the first thing they do is print out your record.
The only way to deal with your landlord is to put it down in writing and post it by snail mail. You need to keep a copy of letters, request for repairs or letters from your landlord in a folder.
A Deputy District Judge in Plymouth County Court once stated the only evidence we can look at is written evidence. We cannot take into account telephone calls as it is not sufficient grounds to put your landlord on 'Notice'?”
“Plymouth community homes is a joke. i am disgusted with the service PCH has to offer. i moved bk to Plymouth in July 2011 and instantly had to call repairs for the balcony door and kitchen draws. long story sort, I've had the draws fixed about 4 times now to the point that they replace the unit altogether in October 2012.the balcony door still not fixed.about 6 months ago we had a stranded gas check to my fire place and the gent they sent broke my fire place and we had to get a new electric one.appointment was made for the afternoon of the 23rd of November. the morning of the 23rd my wife takes our child to school and i started to tidy room for the electrition to work. the electrition quietly post a missed appointment card threw the door and seeks off. when to my horror that i find this has happened i instantly report this to PCH and has a new appointment for a saterday afternoon which is a giant inconvenience for anyone with children. due to their dodgy plumbers i had a flood 3 months ago that went down to the flat below me. they did nothing to compensate us and has not yet been round to view the damage. the hallway has a smell the reminds me of being in primary school making cress eggs. i am also still waiting for a new fire door to be fitted that appointment was made 2 months ago. when i call to disgust these matters i am told that they will look into it and let me know what's going on. so far they have not called back for any of the issues that are deteriorating around me.am i the only tenants that get treated this way?”
