“C'mon now chaps.....somebody has got to pay for the tax cuts the millionaires are gonna get.....it may just as well be the people who can't afford to live anyway
It shouldn't be a problem though, there's always the likes of SHELTER AND THE LOCAL FOODBANKS who can look after those who are evicted or fall on hard times
Good old Cameron eh? "I'm Prime Minister ! I'll do it my way"”

“This Bedroom tax is nothing short of disgraceful in that it particularly picks on the poorest in the city. Let's face it if you have to suddenly move house from a 3 Bedroom to a 1 or 2 Bedroom who is going to pay for the new curtains to fit the windows, smaller furniture to fit ,install phone lines, Sky TV, carpets, lino, cooker, washing machine, who is going to pay for the decoration… come on this is madness. Its pressure these people do not need or deserve.
Its ethnic cleansing for the poor thought up by some Public School boys whilst spanking each other in the 6 form study.
What is needed is not a Tax on the poor but a massive social housing building plan, as was done after the Second World War.
Plymouth did well at it, and guess what doing that creates; yes Jobs in the building industry that pays taxes it also gets people into work getting people into work, which will create more jobs because they will want to spend and where do they spend they spend it in the shops around Plymouth. What does that do it creates profit and leads to Employment.
Where the problem is is not in social housing but in Rich Fat Cat land lords, not so much down here should I hasten to say but in London, Liverpool, Manchester and the like where the rents are so high even if you are on a good income you can claim Housing benefit, which goes to the fat cat pockets. What is needed in the Private sector is what happens in Holland and used to happen here prior to 1979; that is Rent Controls and have Rent Tribunal's for a fair rent.”

“Who cares what changes somebody has to make to move to a more suitably-sized house? Surely, that can't stop this most sensible course of action taking place. If some people aren't happy with subsidised social housing then they should go and find somewhere to rent privately. Perhaps then, they would realise what they've had.
As a taxpayer, I want to see these changes and the sooner the better.”

“Obviously a satirical piece backing-in-words the idea that with a coalition government and a partisan political system and a secular society it's us and them. Oh really.
"You are our guiding light, you are our shining star."
Sat in circles, so none knew who acted as star,
When their song called, all knew who they were.
Argenteum Astrum”

“I cannot even get a council property and have to live in private rented accomodation. Has anyone looked to see the last time someone with a "no housing need" catagory got a council place ? I have an there is no record of anyone in the past 12 months getting given a property if they are in the catagory of "no housing need", this begs the question why am I in this catagory......
Why am I catagorised as "no housing need" ? Is it because I is white innit ? Is it because I am not disabled ? Is it because I work and don't claim a single government benefit ? Is it because I did not irresponsibly impregnate a woman ? Is it because I am not from a foreign country ? Is that I'm not blagging depression based on drug/alcohol abuse or permanent injury based on my own recklessness ?
Living in private housing whilst chasing a council property is a fruitless task for me, you see. I'm London born, educated, in full time employment, fully able bodied, not draining any benefits out of the system. Where is my free home ?
I have heard directly from people who has been given council properties, new builds aswell........undeserving druggie smackies who get knocked up faster than you can say "want a quickie" and a rap sheet with the police longer than the average arm.
I feel society has failed not just me but itself.
This bedroom tax is not the answer or way to go about things, it sounds like another poorly thought out "solution" to the problem.
The government/council need to start looking after the people who actually keep society ticking over without screwing others over to achieve it.”

"How come the government can amend the housing act at the flick of a switch to fit their need, yet the when it comes to terrorist in this country who cannot be deported because of the human rights act...why is it this act cannot be amended to meet the need?"
Excellently put...”
“Specialist Housing Committees have been consulted over the legal implications of re-classifying thousands of properties to maximise savings in the unpopular, soon to be implemented, bedroom tax.
Given the go-ahead, it's estimated 1 in 3 occupants in social housing – thought safe from the sanctions – upon re-evaluation will be deemed to have extra living space and forced either to find smaller properties or survive with lesser housing costs.
Under new rules, a single bedroom having more than 180 sq ft floor space will be redefined as two rooms. The Government are calling to amend the 1985 Housing Act which will make these changes enforceable. The cost of dividing up living space should these measures be introduced will fall on the claimant, with the tenant facing eviction or heavy fines if failing to carry out work within strict time limits.”
