“The councils are an absolute disgrace. Not enough money has been re-invested into the infrastructure of the WHOLE COUNTRY. Let alone Plymouth. Rather than preserve our heritage at a cost, they will let these buildings be sold off (or ROT, if they are listed), then developers will knock them down and do what they want with them. In my opinion its criminal negligence at best. These new buildings dont look British either. It also has a knock-on effect too i think, because prouder people are happier and more productive people. It sets a standard with substance, not the usual entrepreneurial capitalist bullshiz that THEY subscribe to!”

“I agree with babyjanner, sadly its the quality of Councillors that are elected that is at fault, they seem these days to bring NOTHING to the position of Elected Representitive, they seem to have no thought or care for Plymouth or its people, They completely ignore the Voters at every opportunity, forget it is indeed the voters/council taxpayers who are indeed their Employer and Masters, they are only interetsed in their own self importance and the Thousands of pounds of our money they get as "Expenese" not so long ago People stood for Council out of a sense of Civic Pride & Duty all the meetings were held in the Evenings, and all they got for their trouble was a cup of tea and a rich tea biscuit, by God the Council was indeed run far better in those days than ever it is now. What is needed in Plymouth is a constitution setting out once and for all what WE expect and want from our Elected Representitives, the first point should be they are directly firstly responsible and are there to do as WE want not their Parties. And must bring something to the role as a Councillor or at their own expense take courses to learn what is expected of them especially when they are in charge of Budgets Finance or Portfolios. I wonder how many Councillors would be prepared to sign up and put this forward answers on a postage stamp Please. The Council and Councillors are supposed to be the "Custodians" of Land and Property held and owned by us all, not the Council, they have a duty and care which they so often forget in favour of their own costly daft pet projects this MUST stop. I could save £3.2 Million and not lose one single Job or cut any services. Let them start by cutting 25% off their expenses, and the Leader and Deputy Leaders huge salaries should be paid for by their respective Parties not the Taxpayer. Will this ever Happen not on your nelly, this will just prove to us all how self serving they all indeed are.”

“Plymouth's councillors are out of date and out of tune. When you look at people like David Stark who I believe has been around local politics for 50 years, is it any surprise things don't change for the better?”

“To all the moaners and non voters, the answer is simple, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Take an interest, form a party, stand as an independent, put you views forward properly,oh, yes actually vote for your candidate, not come onto to some insignificant site and moan, then perhaps we will actually see a change and not have to put up with the same faces year after year, elected by a minority of the residents of Plymouth !”
