“Of course Plymouth is losing out to Exeter. The journey time to London on a train is much longer; the M5 stops at Exeter and the thing that would make these irrelevant - an airport - has been closed.”

“Transport wise Exeter is now ideally situated in the 21st century for the BBC and indeed any other organisation looking for a central location that is easily accessible from the whole of Devon and Cornwall and by road and rail while crucially being only 2 hours by fast trains from London as well.Say no more its a no brainer for the BBC now given Plymouths poor connectivety.”

“Exeter just has that buoyant feel about it. You can sense a stronger well-being just by walking along the high street. I live in Plymouth but did 90 per cent of my Christmas shopping in Exeter. The town isn't as sprawled out as Plymouth and with most of the shops centred out from the Cathedral, there is a focal point and its easy to find your way around. Yes - agree with the other comments here too that with the M5 stopping at Exeter plus no airport in Plymouth now; what can we really offer people? A TV Centre needs quick, rapid and reactive methods to get journalists and film crews etc in and out. They won't dawdle about when time is money for filming.”
