Charles Eastlake (1793–1865), painter, scholar and arts administrator, was born in Plymouth and went on to become President of the Royal Academy and the first Director of the National Gallery, London. This exhibition will investigate his artistic development and his activities as a central figure of the Victorian art world and is being produced in partnership with the National Gallery.
