Min Wild is interested in something very lively and evocative which happens in all kinds of writing. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it's astonishingly vivid and thought provoking – it's when writers refer to words, or sentences or poems or books – or indeed, ways of writing – as if they were human. Min has been tracing examples from the Bible to the present day, thinking about the new understandings of the functions of language that 'making words human' can give us.
