Blues play in ECL tonight to let rugby take centre stage

PREMIER DIVISION

LISKEARD Athletic have brought their home game against Probus forward to avoid clashing with Liskeard rugby club's big match tomorrow (see Page 47 for full preview).

The Blues kick-off tonight (7.45pm) without the services of George Pengelly, Tim Powell and Dave Waters who are all unavailable.

Manager Ian Lindsay does have Lee Caers returning while first team midfielder Bradley Richardson will have a run-out.

SALTASH United hope veteran striker Roger Bonaparte will be available for tomorrow's difficult trip to Sticker.

Bonaparte made a two-goal debut last weekend and, as Buckland are without a game, Ashes boss Martin Burgess has asked Bonaparte to turn out again.

Sixteen-year-old Jamie Honeywill came on for the last 15 minutes of last weekend's 5-1 victory over visitors Morwenstow and retained his place in the squad.

Burgess said: "This is a tough match for us, but we have to keep winning to maintain the pressure on Torpoint."

Saltash (from): Barnes, Scholes, Wills, Baker, Scott, Priddle, Simmons, Harley, Farnham, Allman, Parr Williams, Revell, Honeywill, Bonaparte.

TORPOINT Athletic will be without striker Liam Thornton when they entertain third placed St Stephen at The Mill.

Thornton is still suffering from a metatarsal injury, but is their only absentee.

BERE Alston hope to maintain their good form when they welcome Lanreath to Recreation Field.

Manager Kevin Taylor will have to do without suspended pair Dan Pethick and Mark Claridge, while Ed Hillier (knee), Lee Brooks (broken leg) and Matt Whitson (ankle) are all out.

Meanwhile, Ben Waters has been released by the club.

ROWETT INSURANCE LEAGUE CUP

LAUNCESTON have Liam Dart returning from suspension for the vist of Roche to Pennygillam in the first leg of their cup semi-final (2pm).

Dart's return is welcome because Adam Crabb is ineligible for the Clarets.

PLYMSTOCK United have first team defender Shaun Jones included in their squad for the visit of Lifton to Dean Cross.

Manager Darren Evans squad is further boosted by the return of Matt Rowe-Parker who has recovered from a broken toe.

"We are looking to continue to improve and, if we play like we did last week against St Columb, we should get a result," said Evans.

Westlake has Wayne Mabin (back) and Wayne Barlow (broken toe) hoping to be fit, but is without unavailable trio Mark Smith, Dan Ahearn, and Dan Batten, and Glenn Stupples (broken jaw).
