Can you handle 40mph zip wire?
A PLYMOUTH explorer is urging people to take part in an adrenaline-fuelled zip wire event to raise funds towards a mission to the Antarctic.
Antony Jinman, leader of the International Scott Centenary Expedition (ISCE) – now a registered charity – wants people to complete the UK's longest zip wire at Adrenaline Quarry, Liskeard, on Tuesday May 24.
A free bus will leave from Drake Circus at 2pm returning at 6pm to Plymouth.
At a stomach-churning 50 metres high and 490 metres long, the zip wire is the UK's highest as well as the longest. It can generate speeds of 40mph.
The explorer aims to raise funds for the ISCE which goes to Antarctica in January 2012 to carry out a huge education programme.
Participants must raise a minimum of £30 in sponsorship to take part and a trophy will be awarded to the person achieving the highest sponsorship.
Mr Jinman recently returned from his latest interactive expedition to Baffin Island, where he and his two companions, Duncan Eadie and Vijay Shah, became the first British team to ski unassisted across the remote Penny Ice Cap.
Places are limited, so to take part e-mail Mark.Reynolds@plymouth.ac.uk or call 01752 588344.
