Make voice heard in forum

Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 07:00

PLYMOUTH'S ambulance service is urging people to make their voices heard as part of a national awareness week.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SWAST) is aiming to promote The Compact, an agreement which encourages the voluntary and community sector to work alongside the government.

Partners are being asked to debate the future of the scheme as well as spending time shadowing various volunteer groups that already exist.

Giovanna Edwards, from SWAST's human resources department, said: "The Compact is a powerful forum with great potential to develop partnerships between the public sector and voluntary enterprises."

The South West Compact has been such a success this year it has been nominated for Compact of the Year at the Compact Awards, set to take place at 11 Downing Street.
