PEOPLE are being urged to don their capes and pick up their magic wands to help raise money for a life-saving local charity.

National Air Ambulance Week starts on Monday and the Devon Air Ambulance Trust is encouraging more people to sign up to its new annual initiative 'Be a Hero for a Day'.

The fundraising event will see people dressing up as their hero, ranging from superheroes to emergency services workers.

Fundraising director Caroline Creer said: "By supporting your local Air Ambulance you will be making a huge difference, as every penny raised will go a long way in helping to save lives."
