Plenty of Horn

On arrival the first problem you may have is parking. It is fair to say it is disorganised because it is not organised. It is a matter of parking where you can or feel like. It is not clear that you can do that and I would imagine strangers have to manoeuvre out of the side dead end quite often.

I did not like being asked if I would like a drink before I have had time to sit down in the pre restaurant lounge. I find that pushy.

You can easily forget my first comments because once you have settled in, the d£r, service and food are first class. The toilets are not the best I have experienced and lack quality. So I can easily believe the comment about the accommodation.

This is a place to eat for a treat or otherwise impress someone. Somewhere to take your Mother, who will hold that memory for a very long time.

It is expensive on balance and the value you get has been fully paid for. I would not give it 5 stars because I have been to better Country House Hotels and ones with red stars.

But it is a Jewel in the Tavistock Area Crown and it must bring great delight to those able to afford or otherwise fund their visits to it.

    Horn of Plenty

“Ive only been here once as its a bit on the expensive side, but I would definitely recommend it. Its great for those extra special occasions definitely a step up from your standard Tavistock restaurant. You can see why its more expensive because the food, service and surroundings are to a very high standard. I just wish I could go here more often!

    Plenty more please...

“A designated Area of Outstanding National Beauty, the Horn of Plenty is regarded by many as a place of pure luxury. The food is properly treated and infinite care is taken over each and every dish that is served. Peter Gorton - the Executive Chef - has been a member of the Master Chefs of Great Britain for many years.”

    Superb quality

“Both the hotel and restaurant have a reputation in the local area for excellence. The buildings are set in spectacular gardens with brilliant views in all directions. There is always a tranquil atmosphere about the place. The restaurant is award-winning and its not hard to see why. At the higher end of the market, all their food is top quality produce that is then presented to the highest standards.”

Out of town and out of this world. High class award..

“Out of town and out of this world. High class award winning chefs and a wine cellar that would make some wine buffs cry trying to decide which vintage to choose. Stay overnight in a luxury room in the main house or in a selfcontained room in the converted barn. After your meal you can walk through the extensive landscaped grounds and listen to the river bubbling along or just sit quietly and read a book. Food, service, location and reputation don't get much better than this.”
