Being ignored

Plymouth Herald

I AM shocked that the voice of the people of Plymouth is being ignored in such a blatant way with regards to Plymouth airport.

Surely the Viable group, plus the size of the petition that was presented to the council, was a strong enough indication that feelings on this matter are running high.

How can a commercial company be allowed to make plans for the airport land, that will obviously lead to a rather large profit for this company, when the land is not owned by them? Isn't the ownership of the lease for an airport, not for them to use the land as they deem fit and for any purpose that will give them a lot of money for their shareholders?

Their proposed plans seem to include a large number of business units. How are the companies that (presumably) will be coming to our city to fill these premises going to access our city when we have poor road access – slow rail access – and no airport access?

Also, as the proposed development has a large number of houses which will be for sale, where will the jobs come from for the people who want to buy a property, and then pay their mortgages if the businesses cannot access Plymouth.

Why are the 'powers that be' not acting in a positive way for the benefit of the people of Plymouth, taking back the lease when it is not being used in the specified way and backing the "Viable" group in their laudable attempt to put Plymouth back on the "Business Map"?

“Mrs Miller said-'Why are the 'powers that be' not acting in a positive way for the benefit of the people of Plymouth?'..

Yes, Che Guevara spent his life fighting for the poor downtrodden people who were being ridden roughshod over by big corporations, so let's hope this Labour council fights for the people of Plymouth by following his example- "I don't care if I should fall, as long as someone picks up my gun and keeps on shooting"”

“Don't bother asking the Herald, Mrs Miller. The editor has planted it firmly in the camp of selling Plymouth down the river for the sake of short-term greed by backing Sutton Harbour Holdings.”
