TOP SCORER Paul Gallagher is set to stay on loan to Argyle for the rest of the season.

Gallagher has netted seven goals since signing from Blackburn Rovers at the end of August.

There were doubts about his future with the Pilgrims when Blackburn replaced Paul Ince with Sam Allardyce as their manager earlier this month.

But Argyle manager Paul Sturrock has discussed the situation with Allardyce and the new Rovers' boss has no plans to recall Gallagher.

Sturrock said: "I have spoken to Sam and he's happy for Gallagher to stay.

"Unless they have injuries, or someone comes in with a fantastic offer for him in the January transfer window, he will be here for the rest of the season."

Gallagher was ruled out of the 1-0 defeat away to Cardiff City yesterday by a knee injury.

The 24-year-old had been hurt playing in the 2-0 win against Southampton at Home Park on Boxing Day.

Sturrock was not sure whether Gallagher would be available for Argyle's FA Cup third round tie at Arsenal on Saturday.

But Allardyce has given the go-ahead for the striker to play at the Emirates Stadium if he is passed fit.

Sturrock said: "Gall is getting scanned in the next couple of days. I would hope to think he will be okay for Saturday, but who knows?"

Meanwhile, Argyle defender David McNamee will be suspended for the cup clash against Arsenal after being sent-off against Cardiff.

He was an 86th-minute substitute for Mathias Doumbe and was dismissed for a wild tackle on City striker Michael Chopra on the stroke of full-time.

McNamee was only man between Chopra and the Pilgrims' goal because 'keeper Romain Larrieu had gone forward for a corner as the visitors tried to snatch a last-gasp equaliser.

McNamee has only recently recovered from a thigh injury, and Sturrock admitted: "It's absolutely soul-destroying for him, but that's football.

"He will have to grin and bear it, but he hasn't had much luck in his career here so far."

“Well Johninblack if you think there is NO bias towards Scottish players.,can you explain why McClane [ a scot who was Argyle,s biggest signing] was allowed to get away with making an abusive sign towards all four sides of the ground 2 weeks ago.His own fans..And Sturrock said NOTHING..Had this been from one of the away team, all hell would have broken out,He would have reported to the FA.and made to face a charge, fair play..fair play my Butt..I am a season ticket holder ,and like many i dont like the way things are going..Argyle are turning into a benevallant fund for over the hill Scottish rejects.......”

“JohnInBlack may wish to note that I am Scottish and stop confusing racism with opinion. Just because I'm Scottish does not mean that I subscribe to the view that the sun shines out of their .....unlike some people at Home Park”

“If it is a fact Ian of Ivybridge then provide the evidence.
Or is it more of a fact that some people on this web site just love moaning rather than posting anything with a degree of thought or intelligence.”

“Do some of the "idiots" who post on here ever go to Home Park or actually know anything about football, or do they just enjoy baiting true Argyle supporters?”
