Plymouth is bidding to be named UK City of Culture 2017. We are asking the people of the city to speak up to support the move. Today Dave Brannan, of events and marketing company Living it Loving it, lends his support to the campaign.

Part of what we do is to go around countries all over the world, I probably went to 40 countries last year. In terms of Plymouth, the infrastructure is not there. We need good quality resort hotels to encourage companies to do business here.

It's a beautiful city and it has the history but it's like a company that is badly managed. We need to focus on the global rather than local, and focus on the beautiful views rather and what we can promote internationally.

The number one thing missing is the or four decent conference centres to attract that business. Exeter really isn't as competitive as you think. We need to start selling the city. From Bristol to Southampton is a dead zone because they haven't promoted it in an international manner.

The key to the bid being a success is attracting the corporate activity that the city deserves.
