Skinny enough to give husband a kidney
AN IVYBRIDGE super slimmer has been told by doctors her kidneys are fit enough to donate to her husband in the hope of saving his life.
Sam Lamb has lost more than two and a half stone over the past three months to ensure she is healthy enough for the transplant which would see her give one kidney to Andy.

LIFESAVING MISSION: Sam Lamb, pictured with daughter Beatrice, has been given the green light to donate a kidney to husband Andy, but still has half a stone to lose
Andy, aged 40, suffers kidney failure and is being kept alive through several weekly sessions of dialysis.
After spending three days in hospital being poked and prodded by needles and tubes, undergoing a range of blood tests, scans and an ultra-sound, to test that her kidneys function normally, she has been given the thumbs up by doctors.
"It definitely feels like a relief, said the 36-year-old mother-of-one.
"I've been told I have twins. That is, two functioning kidneys, so instead of being 90 per cent sure that everything will be alright, I'm now 110 per cent certain – but to say I feel like a human pin cushion would be an understatement," she added.
However, Sam now has two weeks left to lose around half a stone in weight.
Ivybridge Leisure Centre offered her three months of free membership with a personal trainer every week day, after hearing her desperate plea to lose weight but she has just two weeks left.
She featured on the front page of The Herald early in April at the start of her challenge to lose three stone and get her BMI down from 42.8 to 35.
Medical guidelines say that patients with a BMI over 35 are at increased risk from complications during and after major surgery, particularly embolism, respiratory complications and wound infection.
"I still have to lose about four kilos in weight (around half a stone).
"If the two weeks is up and I haven't lost the weight I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it; right now I'm taking it all in my stride."
Sam initially weighed 120 kilos but now weighs 103. She said her BMI was slowly creeping down from 38 but that it was still extremely hard work.
"I had reached a plateau, especially as I'd had three days off at hospital. It doesn't get any easier but I'm back on track."
Chris Hubble, manager at Ivybridge Leisure Centre said: "Sam has had ups and downs but has done so well. So many staff here have had a part to play."
Sam said: "Everyone there has been fantastic."
Sam is now waiting for an appointment to meet a surgeon for a consultation about the next step towards the operation.
She says once it's all over the thing she is looking forward to most is having a Domino's pizza with a herb dip and spending more time with her husband.
