No manslaughter charge for fireworks display man after M5 crash

The organiser of a fireworks display next to the M5 which was taking place at the time of a crash in which seven people died will no longer face manslaughter charges.

34 vehicles crashed on the M5 in November 2011 killing - among others - Kye Thomas from Gunnislake.

Geoffrey Counsell, 50 from Somerset, now faces one charge of failing to ensure the safety of others.

His case will be heard at a later date.

Chief crown prosecutor, Barry Hughes said "It has been decided that there is insufficient evidence to continue with a prosecution for manslaughter."
