No monopoly
MR CHURCHMAN'S fossilised defence of evolution (January 30) was superbly countered by Gareth Jones (January 28).
I must, however, take issue with Mr Churchman's insistence that all science supports the theory of evolution. I have a number of scientific books, authored by accredited scientists, from various disciplines, with a string of professional qualifications after their names, who do not support this worn out theory. They believe the Bible record, particularly the Genesis account of beginnings. You do not have a monopoly, Mr Churchman. Referring again to the 'level playing field', it is not solely faith in science, but complementarily, science in faith. The two views are not mutually exclusive; the key is how do we interpret the facts as they lie before us? The fossil record, for example, is efficiently explained by the Genesis flood (Chapter 7).
Yes, I will continue to seek to demolish the arguments using the Bible, 'For the word of God is quick (living), and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.' (Hebrews 4.12).
