Wednesday, August 27, 2008, 11:48

POLICE arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of possessing heroin after two drugs raids in the same street in Whitleigh.

Officers wearing protective clothing arrived in police vans and swooped on the nearby homes to execute drugs warrants in Ipswich Close at 9.45am yesterday.

Police seized 100 miligrams of what is suspected to be heroin from one of the properties. They found a small amount of cannabis resin at the other home.

Officers have also seized a suspected illegal weapon, believed to be a pepper spray or CS spray, from one of the addresses.

The 30-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs and possessing a prohibited weapon.

He was bailed to return to Charles Cross police station on September 26.

A 36-year-old woman was cautioned by police for possession of cannabis resin.

Police officers and PCSOs also handed out leaflets warning neighbours about the raids and appealing for information.

Anyone who can help should call police quoting crime number EL08 5357.
