Man denies murdering pensioner

Saturday, November 22, 2008, 07:00

A MAN has appeared in court to deny the murder of a 66-year-old grandfather.

Alec Pearn stood in the dock at Truro Crown Court yesterday charged with the murder of Peter Seaman.

Pearn, 20, from Castle Street, Looe, spoke during the five-minute hearing to enter a plea of not guilty to murdering Mr Seaman between August 6-9 this year.

Mr Seaman, a retired heating engineer, died after he was attacked while walking his dog in the village of Dobwalls.

He had suffered serious head injuries.

Judge Christopher Elwen adjourned the case for a trial date to be fixed.

No application for bail was made and Pearn was remanded in custody.
