The man had been detained by staff of a supermarket in Mutley Plain at around 2pm yesterday after being suspected of stealing crates of lager.
He managed to get away from them and fled onto the roof, before falling and landing in front of an unmarked police car. The 28-year-old from Plymouth was arrested before being taken to Derriford Hospital suffering from foot injuries.
