Four pubs on ale trail
The updated Tamar Valley Line Rail Ale Trail promotes travel by train to real ale pubs close to stations on the route, described as one of the most picturesque stretches of track in the country.
The relaunched guide now features 17 hostelries in the region, from the centre of Plymouth to rural village pubs.
The new additions include Barbican favourites the Admiral MacBride and the Dolphin Hotel, as well as the Clifton Inn and the Hill Park Inn, both in Greenbank.
There are prizes on offer for dedicated ale fans who make it to 10 or more of the listed pubs, with free T-shirts, pint glasses and badges available.
The Ale Trail is one of six routes put together by the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, a non-profit partnership between local authorities, the rail industry and the University of Plymouth.
Development officer Rebecca Catterall said: "The Rail Ale Trail is a great way to discover some fantastic pubs in Plymouth and out in the beautiful Tamar Valley, as well as experiencing this picturesque local railway."
The guides can be picked up from all staffed railway stations, information centres, or direct from the partnership by calling 01752 233094 or visiting www.railaletrail.com
