The heavy goods vehicle was spotted by a cyclist who photographed it on his mobile phone as he passed by on the bridge above on Monday afternoon.
It appears that the driver, who is thought to be German, had passed a warning road sign and gone up the narrow country lane and became wedged on a corner.
He managed to get free with the help of a recovery truck, and the lorry suffered damage to the cab and the mirrors.
He tried to reverse the vehicle back down the road, before eventually turning the vehicle back around.
Witness Debbie Hill, 48, said: “I would only have thought it would be sat-nav because I can’t see why a lorry that size would turn off the trunk road.
“It’s just a narrow lane. Two cars can’t even pass – they can’t even turn around it’s that narrow. It’s only a road that locals would use.”

A satellite navigation system was blamed for causing a lorry to get stuck in South East Cornwall. Filmed November 10, 2007.
