Why no objections to this noisy plan?
SOME while back the owner of Plymouth Devils Mike Bowden expressed an interest in relocating their track to Ernesettle. This, in his view, is probably better due to the lack of flooding and less chance of meetings being lost. To this suggestion being aired, instant uproar from the people of Ernesettle. Not here, we won't have that noise or the people and cars it would bring.
Yet a recent notice in this paper about off road biking or motor cross has bought nothing! .
The planned track appears to be a very large one and seems to encompass all the ground in that area. This sport brings the same crowds, cars and trailers, not to mention the noise objected to in the case of the Devils. The only difference could be speedway is one evening a week for two to two and a half hours, with some daytime practice of a weekend. Now it would be a daytime venue which could go on for several hours at a weekend and it will produce the same sort of situation, noise and crowds! The only question that could be raised now is, if Plymouth Devils do have to move, where to? With the only other site now being completely claimed at Ernesettle, where could it be rebuilt?

“Another letter from B J Connel, and another one in which he hasn't got a clue what he's on about. May i suggest turning the computer off and finding a better hobby?”
