No police action on major garage blaze in Mutley

A HUGE garage blaze in Mutley has been has been classed as "not a crime" by police.

There will be no further action on the inferno that was reported in The Herald last week.

The fire at the North Hill Repair Centre late on Wednesday night, saw gas canisters, tools costing £80,000 and several vehicles go up in flames.

A reported 50 firefighters battled the inferno into Thursday.

It could be seen from several miles away and closed nearby roads as residents were ordered to stay indoors with their windows closed.

Owner Cary Mortimore told The Herald he felt his "whole life has gone up in flames" in the aftermath of the blaze.

Early investigations indicated an electrical fault was to blame, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.

Police have now confirmed the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
