Put on pressure to stop badger cull
AS co-ordinator of South West Animal Protection I am concerned about the Government's cruel and needless proposed badger cull.
There is no scientific evidence to say it will be effective and I cannot understand why a vaccine has not been produced to solve the problem. Wales has a vaccination programme and will not cull badgers, so why can't other parts of the UK adopt this scheme? Why is the Government insisting on a cull?

Brian May of rock group Queen is one of several celebrities who have been vocal in opposing plans for a badger cull designed to combat bovine TB
Thousands of ordinary people across the nation are against it, as are several celebrities and many national animal protection groups.
I urge all readers who believe a cull should be outlawed as an issue of morality to go online and sign a petition – http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/3827 – which needs 100,000 signatures for it to be debated in the House of Commons.

You can also write to Prime Minister David Cameron at the House of Commons, London, SW1A OAA urging him to adopt a vaccination programme and not kill precious badgers, and please also consider writing to your local MP asking them to be a voice for the badgers and urge the Government to stop the cull.
Public pressure must be put on those who make decisions, and MPs are our voice in Parliament.

“For Thousands of years, Meles meles lived as a diurnal species. As we know from the rods and cones eye evolution, the Badger, like the Fox and Otter, were daytime hunters.
......
Following human persecution of everything that we find time to kill, these species evolved into nocturnal animals, specifically to avoid contact with us........
Now we all know that the 10 year Krebs trials, 100 Million pounds of taxpayers hard earned , thousands of dead Badgers, have resulted in a scientific report called THE KREBS REPORT....
The longest, most extensive , BTB field trials ever, concluded that culling Badgers results in simply moving TB around.
The first recorded case of TB in Badgers was in 1971, the first recorded case of TB in cows was in the 1930's.
TB is a cow problem Not a Badger one. LEAVE OUR WILDLIFE ALONE!
