Four pubs in Plymouth are staging a 10 day Devon beer festival showcasing ales and ciders from the region.

The festival, at The Union Rooms in Union Street, The Mannamead in Mutley Plain, The Gog & Magog in Southside Street, Barbican and The Britannia Inn in Wolseley Road, Milehouse, will run from Friday March 1 until Sunday March 10 inclusive.

It will offer a selection of 18 real ales and two ciders, from 14 different breweries and cider makers in Devon.

The beers include the new and exclusive ‘Farmers Folly’ (4.8% ABV), by Red Rock Brewery and named by Wetherspoon customer Sean Arris, as well as new beers Seville Bitter by Otter Brewery and Diablo from O’Hanlon’s Brewery, plus Dartmoor Brewery’s Three Hares, Devon Glory from Exe Valley Brewery and Ginger Cider from Sandford Orchards.

One beer, Russian Imperial Porter from Teignworthy Brewery, which is 10.5 per cent ABV, will be sold in half pints only at a cost of £1.89.

The Britannia Inn manager, Paula Wilson, said: “The festival is a fantastic opportunity for real ale and cider enthusiasts in Plymouth to sample a wonderful selection of drinks from Devon.

“It gives the pub and our customers the chance to support local breweries and cider makers and promote great beer and cider from our great county.”
