Griffiths won the first game an amazing 11-0 and then went on to take the others 11-9, 9-11, 4-11, 11-4.
Marshall was also defeated in the doubles when Toby Mattacott and the youngest player in the division, Vicky Smith came from two games down to beat Marshall and Freddie Cutler 9-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-9.
Crafthole District A lost 6-4 at B&S Group B (Gary Reed 3), while two GWR teams suffered defeats.
The A team lost 8-2 to B&S Group A (Rory Harries and Mike Hugh three each) and the B team failed to score at Woolwell B.
GWR C won their first match coming from 4-2 down to beat Woolwell D 6-4.
GWR D (Shaun Gilbert 3) are seven points clear of Astor A in Division Two after defeating Astor D 8-2.
Maximums from John Sherlock and Glyn Price secured a 7-3 victory for Astor A against Woolwell G, while both the Woodland Fort A and B teams drew with Astor C and Inter City A, respectively.
Reserve Keith Phillips did well for Inter City B in Division Three scoring a maximum in the 6-4 win at Inter City D as City B came from 4-3 down in a 44-game match.
Phillips won two for his own team City C in the draw with Woolwell I, losing 11-7, 11-6, 11-6 to John Smith (2).
In the battle of the Smiths, John lost 13-11, 4-11, 6-11, 14-12, 11-9 to Steve Smith (City).
Elsewhere, Crafthole District C beat Siblyback A 7-3.
Lee Mill, with Ann Warren and Richard Smaridge unbeaten, caused a big surprise in Division Four claiming their first win and Saltash's first defeat with an 8-2 success.
The top two teams met with honours going to Woodland Fort C following their 6-4 over Trelawny B who had led 4-2.
GWR E inflicted a first Division Five reverse on leaders Crafthole District D (Nick Taylor 3) winning 6-4.
In Division Six, Woolwell M, after beating their Q team 9-1, found Crafthole District E a different proposition and lost 8-2.
JUST 14 out of 27 matches survived the weather in week two, but Patrick Poon (Saltash) managed to play three times and remained undefeated.
In the mixed doubles, Poon and wife Jane defeated Plympton pair Ming Dai and Sue Peers-Jones 6-2, 5-6, 6-2.
Poon with John Jacobs in the men's doubles Division C also had a second set reverse before a strong finish saw them defeat Peter Horgan and sub John O'Gorman 6-2, 5-6, 6-3.
In his third match in three days Poon stood in again for John Sevieri and with Phil Tucker overcame atrocious conditions with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Roy Barraclough and sub Duncan Neale.
Bernard and Arnaud Lien lost 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 to Richard Allman and Peter Ryland, while Paul Matthews and Paul O'Connell defeated Chris Shorter and Ken McNess 5-6, 6-5, 6-3.
Neil Hunt and Mike Paskins had to recover from 3-0 down in both the second and third sets to beat Umberto Fontinari and Tony Maestri 6-3, 6-5, 6-4 in Division A.
In Division B Kevin Thomas and Andy Conroy fought back to defeat Steve Morris and Dennis Mbu 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Experience and youth from Tony Cronin and Perry Bailey finished on a roll in beating Ron Cole and Rob Thomas 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.
Mike and Helen Foote defeated Chris and Gill Cansfield 6-2, 6-1, 6-3, while Andrew Leigh and Annabel Norman needed five set points to win the vital second set tie-break and defeat Chris Shorter and Lisa Clifton 6-3, 6-5, 6-2. Dan Stones and Joan Williams dropped only six games but it was not all plain sailing in a 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 win over Dudley Tolkien and Janet Butler.
In the only ladies' doubles match Sue Gale used her regular league partner Kate Gibbons as sub and after a close first set were well on top against Olga Rogers and Alice Anstee winning 6-5, 6-2, 6-0.
ALL connected with tennis in Plymouth and particularly Yelverton Tennis Club were sorry to hear of the recent death of Mike Gilbert.
Phil Gasche, the Yelverton men's captain, said: "Mike was a valued member of the club and a popular player both with Yelverton and opponents. He will be sorely missed."
