Woolwell H lost again by 6-4 against Woodland Fort B but 12 year old Ollie Buddell won his first-ever Division 2 set in beating Russ Smith 4-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-8. GWR D (Shaun Gilbert 3) are the leaders after an 8-2 win over Woolwell F. The third Woolwell team also lost as Astor C beat Woolwell G (Mark Ross 3) by 7-3. Inter City A avoided defeat for the first time by drawing with Astor A (Glyn Price 3).
Stella Davis and Liz May from Woolwell D in Division 1 scored maximums in beating B & S Group by 8-2. Richard Marshall (Woolwell A) was again unbeaten in the draw with B & S Group A. A fine maximum from Mike Griffiths meant Woolwell E beating GWR B by 8-2 and John Griffiths also won three for Woolwell C in their 7-3 win at GWR A.
Elburton are off the mark in Division 3 as a three from Barrie Oliver secured a 6-4 win at Inter City B, Oliver beating Dave Green 10-12, 11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5 and Laurie Harrison 11-8, 4-11, 13-11, 8-11, 11-9. SWS' Bryn Ford and Jan Walaszowski beat Inter City D 8-2. Woolwell I are 16 points behind but only beat two-player Crafthole District B 7-3. Inter City E won 6-4 at Siblyback A with Mike Hoskin overcoming Joe Mandl 11-6, 11-7, 11-6.
Charlie Burlison's (Woodland Fort C) latest maximum gave the team a 7-3 win at Astor E in Division 4. Trelawny B lie second after beating Lee Mill 9-1. Three from Mike Gaylard and the doubles with Sue Yorke enabled Trelawney A to draw Woolwell J from 5-2 down. Inter City F lost 10-0 to visitors Naval Stores A and the G team lost 9-1 at Saltash.
Division 5 draw specialists Woodland Fort E did it again at Woolwell K (Anthony Chudley 3) getting the fifth point when Rob Batten and John Cobbledick beat Chudley and Dave Miller 11-4, 11-4, 7-11, 9-11, 11-7. Molyneux Associates kept Trelawny C in bottom spot by beating them 10-0.
Astor F needed three from Gerry Elliott and the doubles with Steve Harvey to win the last two sets and draw at Naval Stores B.
Woolwell N (Alice Phillips 3) and Crafthole District E are still 100 per cent in Division 6 both winning 6-4 against Crafthole District F and Woolwell Extras (Stella Williams 3) respectively.
JOHN DAVIES and Tim Randell started the season with a good win over Chris Price and Simon Danes in Division A.
They narrowly won the first two sets but Price and Danes came back to take the third set, leaving Davies and Randell winners by 6-5, 6-4, 3-6. Neil Hunt and Mike Paskins met unknown opposition in Mark Goodison and Bart Dudley and cruised through by 6-2, 6-2, 6-1. Pete Rogers stood in for Phil Harbottle and with Phil Ruse held off promoted Alex Picot and Jason Vosper by 6-2, 6-5, 6-5.
Sub Patrick Poon with Phil Tucker in Division B beat Nathan Whitfield and Richard Carowicz 6-4, 6-5, 6-2. Poon, with his regular partner John Jacobs, 6-3, 6-5, 5-6 to Chris Shorter and Ken McNess. Andy Westlake and Graham Martin trailed Tony Cronin and Perry Bailey but recovered to win the first set 6-5 (7-5) and then the second 6-1. Cronin and Bailey wonthe third set 6-2, but lost 6-5 (7-5), 6-1, 2-6.
Pete Horgan and Chris Eastwood beat Phil Ticehurst and Geoff Parlby 6-1, 6-4, 4-6 in Division C.
Mike and Helen Foote defeated Dudley Tolkien and Janet Butler 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. Dan Stones and Joan Williams in a hard-fought match just pipped Andrew Leigh and Annabel Norman 5-6 (2-7), 6-4, 6-4. Ming Dai and Sue Peers-Jones beat Chris Shorter and Lisa Clifton 6-1, 6-5, 4-6.
After a tie break first set won by Jean Smith and Liz Gill against Helen Foote and Joan McGregor each pair then won a set 6-1 with Smith and Gill winning 6-5, 1-6, 6-1 in Division A of the Ladies Doubles. In Division B Joan Williams and Chanelle Belcher defeated Chris Bunney and Heather Gynn 6-4, 6-3, 6-1. Chanelle's mum Tania won with Joan Kelcey 6-3, 6-2, 4-6 over Anna Tickle and Esther Pettit.

TORPOINT'S Ben Ward is seeded to a title at next week's Ivybridge Junior Open at the South Devon Tennis Centre where Plymouth Open singles champions Matthew Whittam and brother's Adam and Ben West face a tough test.
The six-day tournament has attracted a huge entry from all over England with the host county tipped to win four of the eight singles titles.
Devon provide the bulk of the entry but players from Suffolk, Avon, Somerset and Wiltshire are among those seeded to reach a singles final with Cornwall County Cup star Ben Ward the favourite to win the boys' 14 and under singles.
Ivybridge's Adam West is seeded five in the 46-strong boys' 16 and under singles with Matthew Whittam seeded to reach the quarter-finals. Ben West, winner of the 18 and under title at the Royal Mail Plymouth Junior Open in August, is seeded eight in this category next week.
Samantha Kenshole, a six-time champion at the Royal Mail event, is top seed in the girls' 16 and under singles and tournament referee Janet Richardson (Kingsbridge) reports a healthy overall entry in the girls' events.
Among the local players hoping to do well are Ashley Taylor, Mae Dartnell, Roger Pan Ashley Roberts and Bill Donaldson. Play gets underway on Sunday (9.30am) with the finals on Friday.
