6PM: A motorist accused of causing a double death has told a jury he now thinks he was travelling too fast around a bend but was not driving dangerously.
Phillip Cann, 24, of Priory, Bovey Tracey, was cross-examined by the prosecution in his trial at Exeter Crown Court.
He has pleaded not guilty to two charges — causing the death of John Larsson and son Stephen Larsson by dangerous driving on the B3344 between Chudleigh Knighton and Bovey Tracey.

5PM: Two men have been jailed after one set fire to a city hotel room and the other did nothing to raise the alarm.
Christopher Pinnock, 20, of Haven Road, Exeter, was sentenced to three years at a Young Offenders' Institute after pleading guilty to deliberately starting a fire at St Nicholas Hotel, Alphington Road.
Damian Meacham, 24, of Wayside Crescent, Whipton, was jailed for two years for his part in the arson.

3PM: Wonford woman Hayley Gowthorpe used fake cash to buy toys and books in a £94 Woolworths spending spree, Exeter Crown Court heard today.
Shop staff caught the 33-year-old Burnthouse Lane resident red handed, the court was told.
Gowthorpe denies five offences of tendering a £20 note which she knew or believed to be counterfeit.

2PM: A Devon road sign which is almost 100 years old has found a new home after being sold for nearly £1,000 at auction.
The amber AA (Automobile Association) road sign for Dunkeswell was sold by Tiverton auctioneers Chilcotts for a hammer price of £920.

1PM: Postal workers have voted in favour of a national strike in a bitter row over jobs, pay and services, threatening widespread disruption to mail deliveries in the coming weeks, it was announced today.
The Communication Workers Union said its members backed a nationwide walkout by 3-1 in protest at the "imposition" of changes to working practices as well as cuts in their pay and job losses.

9AM: Emergency services were called to a Mid Devon distribution centre this morning following a car crash.
Police, fire and ambulance services were alerted following the crash outside the Gregory Distribution centre, in Sanders Way, on the Kingsmill Industrial Estate at Cullompton, shortly before 6am.
