Comedian will be missed
Friday, November 21, 2008, 11:00
This consummate comedian and actor, who played the ever put-upon Stan Butler, was always able to be optimistic rather than pessimistic.
And 92 was a fine old age to have reached. During those years, Mr Varney gave us all the chance to watch his talent on TV and we must be grateful for that.
He will be missed in a day when comedy has been taken over by the lewd and rude shows and comments that we have thrust at us on a daily basis.
Mr Varney and his bus crew and dysfunctional home life did not have to rely on filth to make us all laugh.
Rest in peace, Reg.
