Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 10:32

STARS of the US blues scene, Lightnin' Willie And The Poorboys make a welcome return to the Hall for Cornwall on Friday, July 24.

Having emerged from the clubs and bars of the US blues scene, Lightnin' Willie's an accomplished and hard-working guitarist, vocalist and songwriter.

Originally from Texas, this bluesman is now based in Los Angeles and has four albums under his belt.

Combining a seductive exchange of swinging blues and R&B with a hint of rockabilly, the band's lively, interactive, face-to-face approach to their music has had audiences waving their banner throughout the United States and Europe for over 10 years.

Also known as an eloquent storyteller, Willie has his own story of time on the road, personal loss, fresh beginnings and an over-riding love of playing the Devil's Music.

Expect a delicately balanced show, opening with powerful blues, rich vocals, and slide guitar in a tight, high-energy performance packed with style, wit, and an unabashed sensitivity to a medium that will leave you feeling anything but blue.

The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets £14.50, £13 and £12 (RV) plus concessions from the Box Office on 01872 262466. A 90p Theatre Fund payment is added to each ticket sold.
