THE VOTES have been counted, verified and the result is in.

Today we can reveal Evoque as the shirt chosen by Herald readers to be worn by the Pilgrims during the 2013/14 season.

  1. Next season's Plymouth Argyle kit revealed after you voted

An overwhelming number of readers picked the Evoque design. More than half of the 2,000 votes cast chose it as their favourite shirt.

The Herald teamed up with Plymouth Argyle to offer readers the chance to pick one of three options put forward by the club’s kit suppliers, Puma.

Votes were then cast by filling out a coupon printed in the newspaper or by text or online.

It was the first time Herald readers were handed the power of deciding what shirt the Pilgrims will wear.

Herald editor Ian Wood said: “We’re really pleased that so many of our readers took the time to take part in the vote.

“It just goes to show how committed the fans are to Argyle.”

Tomorrow we will reveal the winners of our raffle prizes.

Prizes include the chance to be part of a Pilgrims’ official team picture next season.

There’s also the chance to win the first new shirt out of the factory with the winner’s name printed on it.

Also up for grabs is a VIP day out at Home Park and meet the manager Carl Fletcher and players.

Five readers will also win one of the new shirts.

The kit competition followed in the footsteps of the club allowing fans to select the pasty supplier at Home Park.

“I am not an Argyle fan myself but I do wonder why The Herald and it's readers get to choose the shirt and the pasties.

Surely the supporters of the club would be a better choice seeing as it will be they who will be buying these products.”

“Nice to see the club allows it's fans a choice? They choose which pasty to sell lol And now, they choose the shirt??!! Will they be picking the team next? As for the shirt, I trust the shirt has been embossed with Blue Square League in preparation for next season?

“I can't believe we are worrying about next season's kit when we have such a poor team and management and are serious relegation contenders?”

“Who designed the choices? They certainly weren't fans. Bland and boring is how it looks to most of us. Should have gone for the current Argyle ladies shirt. A replica almost of the 1960s famous white with black and green chest band with the crest in middle. The only thing that would spoil it today would be the sponsor logo.
I remember Argyle playing Leicester in the FA cup at Filbert Street in the 64/65 season, when their announcer on the PA system said we were the smartest team in the football league. Happy days, even though we got hammered.”
