A ship that shames us
THE demise of HMS Plymouth seems to be imminent.
The once proud warship, the last veteran of the Falklands conflict, is due to go into dry dock for final checks before she is towed to a breakers yard in Turkey.
The battle to save her has certainly been lost and her fate is sealed. However, efforts are under way to save some mementos including the interior of the ship's chapel.
But these few keepsakes will soon stand as a sad reminder of what we have lost.

“These latest stories are just rumors being spread around up here in Birkenhead...They have no base in fact.
STILL............NOT YET (Within the Law)
On 06/Feb/2013, and again on 12/March/13 the environment agency confirmed again that whilst there are draft proposals to scrap the vessel, NOTHING concrete exists.
They first must inspect the proposed sight to ensure it meets all the legal requirements to dismantle HMS Plymouth safely.
They then must have a transport of hazardous waste framework in place including cover for it.
If all is well then HMS Plymouth as a ship will have to meet all MCA requirements including International load line exemption, surveys and various other things.
Then, and only then, can the application be submitted by Peel to send her for scrap.
THIS WILL TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS.
Not convinced? Why not ring them and ask for yourself…. 01925542541
