Give us signs
WHILST driving from Plymouth to Embankment Road I did not come across any 30mph road signs at all. However once on Embankment Road we counted 20 40mph road signs before we got to Marsh Mills roundabout. Also on leaving Embankment Road heading for Plymouth the 30mph signs are far too close to the speed camera overhead which I am amazed has not caused an accident by people emergency breaking there to slow down in time.
The new road layout is a shambles and does make me wonder who designed this daft layout with not enough signage for the 30mph part.

“MissAnthrope
I only own one shirt.
You wouldn't want to know about my fantasies.
But, you called me macho and young so all is forgiven.”

“Even if you ignore long distance journeys, if I am 5 seconds ahead of you in the city I will sometimes make it through traffic lights that you will have to stop for. Personally I never speed in 30mph zones, but I don't waste time when the lights turn green either.”

“Silly me for not realising until I read yet another one of your inflammatory remarks that you are a troll Tim. Well let me tell you this sonny, your behavoiur is very disappointing. You've let me down. You've let The Herald and its readers down. You've let the Highways Agency down. But most of all, you've let yourself down.”

“It's called the M5, it starts at Exeter. If you pick the right time of day/week you don't need to slow down at all.”

“Tim, please can you let me know where this 300 mile stretch of road is where you drive your car at 80mph without having to slow down even once? I suspect no such road exists in the UK, thus destroying your argument. The reality is that you are constantly speeding up and slowing down, complaining about other people getting in your way, getting more and more fustrated, burning off more fuel and wearing out your breaks only to be caught up by everyone when the traffic slows down to 40 for 10 miles because everyone is rubbernecking an accident on the other side of the road.
You boys need to ask any driving instructor what an angry motorist is. They will all tell you the answer is a bad motorist.”

“"Chill out and enjoy the scenery at 25mph" - MissAnthrope
MissAnthrope, when did you take your driving test? The instructor encourages you to maintain the speed limit of the road. I'd guess you are one of these drivers that go at 40 on a 60mph road - 'taking in the scenery' causing tail backs! Perhaps you over take on a dual carriageway going marginally quicker than the car in the slow lane, taking an age to overtake and hold up the cars in the fast lane.
It's these drivers that cause frustration, worry less about the scenery and concentrate on the road. I'm not advocating speeding but at least drive to the speed limit!”

“Sometimes the person going faster will be the last person going through the traffic lights when they turn red, thus you can save yourself a considerable amount of time. As for the fillups I doubt that is true. My car does about 300 miles to the tank, which at 80mph would take 3.75hrs. At 70mph it would take 4.28hrs to go the same distance. With 10 minutes to fill up with petrol, even if the 70mph car never had to fill up, the 80mph would beat it.”

“Sorry, but you should not be driving. You should go back and do your theory test. Built up area = 30 mph unless otherwise stated. End of.
You and those wining taxi drivers need to get on with it and accept the fact that you all drive too fast and break the speed limits.”
