A STARGAZER who photographed a 'glowing orb' moving slowly

over the city is appealing for the public's help to identify

the object.

Chris Edwards, aged 43, of Plymstock, said he was awed to

see an 'unidentified flying object' high above Staddiscombe on

Sunday evening.

The part-time magician wants to hear from anyone else who

saw what he calls an 'unusually bright white light' in the sky

that night.

Chris said he had stepped outside his Greenacres home for a

cigarette at 10.30pm when he spotted the 'orb'.

“I enjoy stargazing, and usually have a cigarette at this

time of night in the same place,” he said. “I haven't noticed

this object before. It was unusually bright, like a glowing

orb. Not like a star, planet or plane. It wasn't just twinkling

like a star, it looked like a small sun with a glare coming off

it and was so bright you couldn't see any other stars.

“It was white, even though it looks green in the

pictures.

He said the light looked as though it was 'very high' above

Staddiscombe and moving slowly towards the South Hams.

“I watched it for about 25 minutes and it seemed to be

moving away from me – it was difficult to tell how far but

about five or six inches across my field of vision. I'm not

saying it was aliens, I'm saying it was an unidentified flying

object and it'd be good to see if anyone else saw it that night

and got a better look.”

He said when he looked outside at 11.30pm, it had

disappeared but other stars were visible in the clear night

sky.

Chris, a customer service representative at Orange and

part-time magician, said his wife Kim and 16-year-old

stepdaughter Danielle Venters also saw the light but are “not

believers”.

He added he has previously seen a UFO – a disk about 80 to

100 feet in diameter – hovering about 200ft above Looe in the

mid 1990s.

“I'd have made millions on that picture if I'd had a camera

on me,” he said.

A police spokesperson said they had no reports of strange

lights in the sky on Sunday night.

“Looks like an aircraft taken after a few pints.
Is it just a coincidence that all these UFO pictures thoughout time have always been blurred or shakey?”

“I used to live at Staddiscombe and saw these regularly. Look at the time tables for planes coming into land and you will probably find the answer to your question. Not always easy to hear up there depends which way the wind is blowwing and which direction they are travelling. The first time I saw one I too thought it was something weird.”

“Probably the lazer lights from 'music of the night'  sorry to be a kill joy but they really do look  like orbs moving circular in the sky.”

“I remember years ago seeing what I though was a ufo. I was so amazed it was so clear, but I was informed that it was to do with the lazer lights for music of the night on the hoe. Maybe your sighting was around this time.”

“I am an Amateur Astronomer and until recently was a member of Macclesfield astronomical society at Jodrell bank (radio telescope) I am also a scientific researcher into the paranormal (I am a Bsc. in Geology)

Certainly there has been a rise in the amount of sightings of unidentified flying objects but certain Low earth orbit material along with satellites and even the space station can be seen quite well with the naked eye (sometimes quite brightly) there are other phenomenon which without the presence of a photograph or video may well be ball lightning, military craft, high altitude research equipment , even high altitude space debris / asteroids skipping over the top of our atmosphere and burning up without re entry; who knows.

The key to remember is there are many different things it could be, I am glad Chris has not jumped to the conclusion of it being extraterrestrial, if anyone has a photograph of it, I would be interested in seeing a copy at aufo8mycow @ hotmail . com (I know, the email addy sounds sarcastic, but it's real!”

“Just remember all you negative people..just because you haven't seen something with your own eyes, doesn't mean to say it doesn't exist?? I think the word that comes to mind is, 'ignorant'. Open your minds a bit......”
