Paul Henderson
Paul grew up in Plymstock with his parents, Carol and Gordon, and his brother and sister, David and Julie.
He had overcome a health battle with Spondylitis (an inflammation of the vertebra) and as a South Hams motor club member he was well known in stage rallying.
The family of Paul have released this statement:
"Paul was a son to be very proud of."
His sister Julie said: "Many childhood memories locked in my heart. Many carefree hours, days and nights spent rebuilding rally cars followed by hours spent in all weathers waiting for Paul while he was competing in stage rallying. We were all members of the South Hams motor club."
Paul's brother David said: “Memories of Paul battling against all odds with a smile. His willingness to always help anyone in need. There will always be a special place in my heart for someone I was proud to call my brother.
"Paul was a wonderful, kind family man, who will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. He leaves behind his devastated wife Jackie, his two sons, Robert and Andrew, his daughter Sarah, his two grandchildren, Harvey and Azura and his future grandchild who is due in the summer."
"He worked in Devonport Royal Dockyard for 27 years where he earned the respect he deserved.
"He did a lot of charity work including the Plymouth Half Marathon, where he raised over £500 for M.S, after his niece Nikki was struck down with this illness. He also took part in many charity motorcycle rides like the Plymouth Megaride and the British Heart Foundation rides which he enjoyed with his wife, Jackie, and many of their friends. Jamie has said the best moments he had with Paul was when he was out on the bike with him. He regularly took part in the pedal for a medal charity cycle rides raising money for the British Heart Foundation."
His mother-in-law Shirley said: “Every family should have a 'Paul' as he was a highly respected gentleman who was always willing to help anyone without hesitation."
Paul was nothing but a saint, a gentle giant, who was not just a husband, father, son, brother or grandson, but the whole foundation of his family. Words cannot describe how much he is going to be missed by everyone."
Paul's blue Triumph Tiger motorbike, two cars and a van were involved in the accident at the bottom of the St Budeaux eastbound onslip.
The emergency services were alerted to the crash at 6.57am by a member of the public.
The road between Weston Mill and Crownhill was closed for almost eight hours.
A 57-year-old woman from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after the four-vehicle rush-hour crash.
She has been released on police bail until April 30.
