Argyle sign Fletcher
Fletcher trained with the Pilgrims’ squad this morning, after travelling to Plymouth last night.
And the 28-year-old Wales international is set to make his debut in the home game against Sheffield United tomorrow (3pm).
Under-pressure Argyle manager Paul Sturrock was unavailable for comment when Herald Sport tried to contact him this lunchtime.
Sturrock has not done any interviews with the local media since the 3-1 defeat by Crystal Palace at Home Park on Tuesday.
But he has spoken about the signing of Fletcher to Argyle’s official club website.
Sturrock said: “I have been after Carl for a while and he has come in for a month to strengthen and bolster the midfield area.
“It has been very difficult in that position this year because everybody wants to keep their experienced players.
“We needed another captain in there and he has captained Wales and many other teams in the past, so there are leadership qualities in him.
“When we are going through the spell we are going through, we need that kind of generalship from experienced players.
“He’s very thoughtful when the other team has got the ball. He talks and organises your midfield and he sees a pass when he gets on the ball.
“He’s all fit and ready for tomorrow.”
Sheffield United have also completed a loan signing this morning, with striker Craig Beattie arriving from West Bromwich Albion.
Argyle are not expected to make any further additions to their squad before the game against the Blades.
