Reda progress pleases Luggy
The 21-year-old Benin international defender left French club Amiens to join the Pilgrims in the summer on a three-year contract.
But injuries have hampered his early Argyle career and restricted him to just two Championship appearances this season.
On his only start for the club, in the 3-1 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on September 12, Johnson limped off with an injury to his left knee.
He has been on the treatment table since, but finally made a return to action to play an hour for the reserve team in their 1-0 defeat to Swansea on Tuesday.
Sturrock was impressed with Johnson's display and, although a lack of match fitness is an obvious problem, the defender will travel to Leicester City today.
"He was paddling water 10 minutes into the second half, but he has trained since and he looks up for it," said Sturrock of Johnson.
"We are going to take him along (to Leicester) but he is not ready for a full 90 minutes with the first team yet.
"I think everybody who was at the reserve game saw glimpses that he could be a quality player for us given time.
"He is a young and inexperienced player, but he has great attributes – he is 6' 3" tall and runs like a gazelle, he can play as well.
"We are pleased with the way he is developing."
ARGYLE'S home third round FA Youth Cup clash against West Ham United will take place at Home Park on Wednesday, December 9 (7pm).
