Timar in the frame for a starting role at Turf Moor
The Hungarian international impressed manager Paul Sturrock in the reserves' 3-0 win against Exeter City at Home Park on Tuesday.
Timar has started only one match this season, the 2-0 defeat away to Luton Town in the Carling Cup first round on August 12, although he has made two substitute appearances in the Championship.
That follows the serious head injury Timar suffered in the final game of the 2007/08 campaign, the 1-0 defeat at Wolves in May.
Sturrock said: "I feel Timar is ready for a game and there is a chance he could be involved tomorrow."
There is also a possibility winger Craig Noone could be added to the Argyle squad.
The 20-year-old winger stood out in the reserves' victory over Exeter, capping an eye-catching performance by scoring the Pilgrims' third goal.
Noone, who has yet to play for Argyle at first team level after signing from non-League Southport for £110,000 earlier this month, could be one of the substitutes at Turf Moor.
But Sturrock is set to be without defender David McNamee, who suffered a calf injury in training on Tuesday.
McNamee, a summer signing from Coventry City, did not take part in training yesterday and is rated by Sturrock as a 'big doubt' for tomorrow's match.
The former Scotland international has made only two substitute appearances so far this season, having only recently recovered from a 'dead leg' which forced him to sit out the first two games of the season.
Sturrock said: "McNamee has a wee calf problem, which is disappointing. It's nothing to do with the injury he had before.
"We thought he was going to come back into training yesterday, but he didn't. He's a big doubt for tomorrow."
Left-back Gary Sawyer played for Argyle reserves against Exeter after a hamstring injury, but is not ready to return to the first team yet.
Sturrock said: "We have got to make or break him now. It's either a minor operation or he kicks on."
He added: "I have got a couple of teams in mind for tomorrow at this minute in time, and that's something I will have to deliberate over."
