Which sports stars will you be voting for this year?
Now in its eighth year, the Herald Awards ceremony celebrates and supports a wide variety of sporting excellence during 2009.
And when it comes to heroes, the Herald has signed up one of British sport's most acclaimed ambassadors as guest of honour – the great Barry McGuigan MBE.
The former world boxing champion and highly-respected TV pundit and personality will present the prizes at this year's glittering spectacle which will once again take place at the Pavilions, on Monday, November 30.
The Herald Sports Personality Awards in addition to highlighting the array of sporting talent in the city – all voted for by your good selves – the readers, raises valuable funds for grassroots sport in and around Plymouth.
As in previous years, there are six main categories for you to nominate your favourite, whether from professional sport or at amateur level.
The categories are the Herald Sports Personality award, last year won by Olympic silver medallist, modern pentathlete, Heather Fell.
Another category up for grabs is the Young Sports Personality won in 2008 by diving superstar Tom Daley, while Coach of the Year prize was claimed by Plymouth Diving's Andy Banks.
Next on the horizon is the Amateur Sports prize won last December by Plymouth's international young sailing star James Ellis.
The Team of the Year award went to BBL basketball outfit, Plymouth Raiders, while netball stalwart Sue Gullick carried off the Outstanding Contribution category.
In addition to the stellar six, comes the magnificent seventh category – the Champagne Moment of the Year.
It couldn't be easier to vote – either by post, using the coupon, printed on this page. Or via email to sportsawards@theplymouth herald.co.uk.
The choice is yours but please remember the closing date for nominations is Friday, October 23 2009 – so what are you waiting for?
