THE Westcountry is the mecca this week for many of the UK's solo Moto-X stars, all of the country's leading sidecar cross competitors and solo and sidecar grass racers.

The fifth round of the KSW Masters Series is being staged on the Landrake Moto Parc circuit tomorrow and Sunday. Leading experts in action include Martin Barr, Brad Anderson, Scott Elderfield, Mark Eastwood and Jamie Skuse. There are 18 races each day, mostly for amateurs and youths, but with such a top quality entry, patrons will find it worthwhile waiting to see the experts in action.

Meanwhile, the Broadhembury Club stage the sixth round of the British Sidecar championship on their Wrangway Cross circuit near Wellington. All the leading contenders are taking part including Stuart Brown and Luke Peters, who have a massive 79-point lead over John Lyne and Paul Kirwin, who are 16 points up on Andy and Tim Breacher.

There is sure to be a big battle for fourth and fifth places as Simon Bradford and Marc Cooper, plus Dan and Joe Millard, are separated by just five points.

The Cornwall Grasstrack Club are staging fewer events this year having taken into account the high cost of travel from many parts of the UK to their venue at St Erme. However, a two-day meeting at Truthan Farm tomorrow and Sunday has attracted an all-star line-up in both solo and sidecar classes. Regular race winners competing in the former class include Midlander Tom Perry, John Weeks, Josh Dingle, Stefan Maunder, Jason Prynne and Sam Foley.

Leading crews in the three-wheeler races include Richard Thomas, Clive Stoneman, Rob Wilson, Neil Owen and Steve Smith together with their partners.

There are 43 races in tomorrow's programme, which starts at 2.30pm, and 50 races on Sunday, the first of which gets underway at 12.30pm.

The Otter Vale Club stage the 10th round of the South West Centre trial championship at Sidford in East Devon on Sunday. All the main contenders have entered, including Ricky Wiggins, Ross Hancock, Jason Lawer and Ben Bramwell, but by midweek no entry had been received from Joe Baker, who ended Wiggins' run in the series at Hartland in North Devon last weekend.
